Queen's Finance Association Conference Applications

Interested in a career in finance? The Queen’s Finance Association is now officially taking applications for the 2013 QFAC finance conference hosted at the Royal York in Toronto. This year’s conference features sponsors from the big 5 banks, PE firms, boutique investment banks and many more. In addition, we will be hosting an optional stock pitch competition, the top 10 will have their delegate fee waived, and the top 6 will be sent to New York to present their pitch in front of a panel of judges with our sponsor Greentech Capital Advisors. Bloomberg Information Session

Bloomberg Information Session will be happening on September 26,2013 at 5:30pm - 6:30pm in HH1102 for all SAF students. The session will focus on the use of Bloomberg terminal, and basic data extraction methods to aid students in financial modelling.  Don’t miss the opportunity to gain hands on Bloomberg training from a Bloomberg professional. Be sure to come out for an event catered towards helping students to gain valuable research skills to assist and differentiate them as they make their way into their respective finance careers. Waterloo JDC Central UPDATED Application Form

Academic spots are available for:

 

Accounting case competition

Finance case competition

Business Strategy case competition

Management Information Systems case competition

 

One of our case comp delegates will also have the chance to take on a role of leadership for the entire delegation involving planning of events and training for the entire delegation (VP Logistics).

 

There is also application available for the social competition team (please see video for more info on that).

 

Please note try-outs will be taking place the weekend of September 28th and 29th.

 

Other important information: delegate fees are $400 this year. $100 will be due upon admittance to the JDCC delegation (for successful applicants), the later portion will be due in mid-October. JDCC Execs are currently working with AFSA to have a $50 refund on this fee for all delegates (to bring the net cost down to $350 per delegate).

 

What is JDC Central?!?!

 

JDC Central (“JDCC”) is essentially the Business Student Olympics of Ontario and Eastern Canada. Teams compete in a wide array of academic case competitions spanning from Accounting, Finance, Business Strategy, Management Information Systems, and also compete in Debate, Sport, Social and Charity competitions.

External Funding Proposals

AFSA is currently welcoming any student group to submit an external funding proposal for any project. The proposals are evaluated by the Executive Team and by the Board of Directors based on the purpose and the value of the project to School of Accounting & Finance (SAF) students. Please complete this file and submit a formal budget for the project. Please submit proposals to Anna Liang, a.liang@uwafsa.ca by October 9th, 2013.

Looking to showcase your business acumen and go head to head against the brightest and most ambitious undergraduate students from across Canada? Dare to Compete at LIVE Competition 2013. LIVE Competition is a two-day national undergraduate business competition hosted by the University of Toronto Scarborough.
