CFA Institute Announces the Future of Finance Student Video Contest

Part of CFA Institute's Future of Finance initiative, the contest invites full-time university students to create a 30–45 second video that answers the question: "What should the financial industry do to better serve investors and society?" Winning contestant(s) will receive a 16 GB Apple iPad 2. All video entries must be received by December 16 and will be featured on the CFA Institute YouTube channel. For a full list of contest rules and to access the submission form, visit www.cfainstitute.org/studentvideocontest.

“There is much work to be done to shape a more trustworthy, forward-thinking financial industry for future generations,” said Ashvin Vibhakar, CFA, senior advisor at CFA Institute and executive sponsor of the Future of Finance initiative. “This contest gives students the opportunity to voice their ideas on how to create positive change in finance and help lead and shape the industry for the future.”

The student video contest is part of the CFA Institute Future of Finance initiative, a long-term global effort to shape a trustworthy, forward-thinking financial industry that better serves society. Launched earlier this year, the initiative aims to provide the tools to motivate and empower the world of finance to commit to fairness, improved understanding, and personal integrity.

Hey 4Bs! We are only four weeks away to Grad Ball 2013 and we know you're excited.
Grad Ball 2013 will be on Friday November 29 and doors will open at 6:00PM. Please see the poster in this post for all other relevant details.
Our Grad Ball Committee will be selling tickets in the SAF Lounge next week from Monday November 11 to Friday November 15 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Early bird ticket prices will be$50 for SAF students and $60 for non-SAF students.
We are selling tickets on a first-come first serve basis as there is limited venue space for the event.

Ryerson’s ACHIEVE National Accounting Conference Team Application

Apply to be part of the team to go to Ryerson’s ACHIEVE National Accounting Conference and represent University of Waterloo from Jan. 23 - 24, 2014. Each team will consist of four members from 3rd and 4th year with the exception of one 2nd year student.

ACHIEVE is a national accounting conference and competition hosted at the Ted Rogers School of Management. The upcoming 2014 year marks the 6th year of the ACHIEVE Conference and Competition. Every year, driven students from universities across Canada compete to showcase their accounting knowledge in a formal case competition judged by a panel of industry professionals. ACHIEVE enables professional growth for students and countless networking opportunities with industry representatives at our nightly socials.

This year, the ACHIEVE theme focuses on International Business and Leadership. ACHIEVE 2014 participants will be stimulated with innovative and thought provoking workshops and keynote addresses, executed by leaders from global organizations. Additionally, delegates will partake in one in-depth case study where students will be tested on their knowledge of accounting concepts while engaging and strengthening their skill sets.  ACHIEVE 2014 promises to be exciting, challenging, and rewarding for all participants.

Early Bird Special of $450 + processing fee for Dec. 20, 2013.
Otherwise, $500 + processing fee paid by Jan. 11, 2014.

This conference is eligible for the UWAFSA conference subsidy!
