The annual AFSA Elections applications to become an AFSA executive member are now open! Elections for Executive, Board of Director and AFEF positions begin during the month of May each year.  

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT POSITIONS I CAN RUN FOR?

There are 10 elected positions for Executives, 5 elected positions on the Board of Directors an 4 elected positions on the AFEF Board. They range from positions on Board as well as positions on the Executive team. For a complete description of roles and responsibilities, refer to http://www.uwafsa.ca/executive-and-bod/

WHAT IS THE ELECTIONS PROCESS? WHAT ARE THE DEADLINES?

The elections process consists of the submission of a suitable application for the appointed and elected positions. They can be found at www.uwafsa.ca. Once applications are approved by the elections committee, the campaign period begins. During the campaign period, candidates can promote their platform (online only) and SAF students can participate through the elections forum. Once the campaign period ends, voting will begin. During this period, all SAF students can vote (or abstain from voting) for all positions as well as any referendums. Subsequently, the votes will be tallied and the successful candidates will be announced on www.uwafsa.ca.

The elections timeline is as follows:

May 25th - AFSA elections kickoff May 25th - Applications Open May 29th - Deadline to apply May 30th - Candidates vetted and announced June 1st – Campaigning begins June 7th - Campaigning ends June 8th – Voting begins June 11th – Voting Ends June 12th - Results announced

AFSA Referendum Results

AFSA is pleased to announce the results for the referendum. With approximately 30% voter turnout the referendum has passed with over a 90% approval rating.
Do you approve the revised Constitution of the Accounting and Finance Endowment Fund?
Ballots Cast: 509
In favour: 91%
Do you approve that AFSA become recognized as a society by the Federation of Students?
Ballots Cast: 470 In favour: 92%
Do you approve that all (5) board of directors representatives will be selected through an election process?
Ballots Cast: 447 In favour: 90%

Stay tuned for next steps and we hope to keep striving for a better SAF community. We will update students as AFSA progresses through the next few steps of the process related to Questions 1 and 2 on the referendum. The results of Question 3 will be reflected in the AFSA Constitution effective 2015-2016 elections for the upcoming school year.

AFSA By-Election: Candidate Results

The AFSA Elections committee and the AFSA Executive 2013-2014 team would like to welcome and congratulate the new AFSA VP External Zac Hogg, VP Education Ben Ma and Board of Director Jeffery Wong for 2014-2015!
