AFSA Goes for Gold is here!

Exciting news! SAF students, you are invited to compete in business conferences and competitions around Canada to represent the School of Accounting and Finance! AFSA Goes for Gold Conferences

AFSA will send teams to competitions this year, to allow students to gain knowledge in different business competencies while having a unique opportunity to network with professionals and other students from other schools. AFSA Conference Subsidy

In addition, any SAF student registered for a conference or competition not on the list for Goes for Gold can request for a subsidy from AFSA to cover a portion of your cost as we encourage students to take part in these competition and activities. Reach For the Stars

AFSA’s annual trivia competition, Reach for the Stars, is coming up on October 25th. Show off your trivia knowledge in a showdown against other teams and prove to everyone else that you are the best. Enter to have your names carved in the Reach for the Stars trophy and for the opportunity to receive over $400 in prizes! Of course, pizza and refreshments will be included for FREE. AFEF Information Session

Attention School of Accounting and Finance members: students, faculty, alumni and staff. Do you have a great idea that you want to make happen but need financial sponsorship? Are you part of a club or organization that has a need for financial sponsorship to support your initiatives? The Accounting and Finance Endowment Fund would like to invite all those interested for an overview of the AFEF Funding Disbursement process for the 2015/2016 Academic Year.

The Information Session will happen this Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:30 in Hagey Hall 2104. Come out to the session for a walkthrough of how to submit a funding proposal and to have any questions or comments addressed.

Code in Fnance Program

Two Sigma, Morgan Stanley, and Galatea Associates are running the Code in Finance Program to help students with quantitative backgrounds make sense of the wide variety of different opportunities to apply their skills in finance.

Open for Nominations - AFSA Community Leadership Award

AFSA is currently taking nominations for its fourth rendition of the AFSA Annual Leadership Award. The deadline for nominations is Friday Oct. 9, 2015 at midnight. Students can win in the Overall, SAF Community Contributions, or  Contributions to a Worthwhile Endeavour Outside the University categories.

Selected by random draw, two students will be sitting on the Selection Committee along with AFSA President, Lynn Wu, and AFSA Chairman, Anna Liang. Two professors, to be named later, will also be sitting on the Selection Committee.

Along with the prize to be named later, students will be honoured with their award at the Fall SAF Awards Night, and will have their name engraved on the award that sits in the SAF/CMA Lounge.

Winners are expected to be announced in late October.

-The Award was created in Spring of 2012 by former President Nitish Sharma. Nitish oversaw the AFSA daily operations during the 2011-2012 academic year and noticed the need to better reward and recognize those making positive contributions to his/her academic community. The AFSA Community Leadership Award was thus founded that year and first awarded during the Spring 2012 term and handed out at the Fall 2012 SAF Awards Night.-

Hello upper years! AFSA is awarding its yearly Community Leadership awards for 2014-15. Regularly, 2 non-AFSA students are a part of the selection committee, along with 2 SAF faculty and 2 AFSA Exec/Board members. If you are interested in partaking in this annual tradition as one of the two "at large" (non-AFSA) students on the selection committee, please complete the form below.
