Code in Fnance Program
Two Sigma, Morgan Stanley, and Galatea Associates are running the Code in Finance Program to help students with quantitative backgrounds make sense of the wide variety of different opportunities to apply their skills in finance.
Our sponsors have each prepared a short assignment reflective of the kinds of work done by analysts in the following verticals:
- Data science
- Quantitative strategy
- Software engineering
We will also be providing insight into:
- Algorithmic trading
- Financial engineering
- Risk management

Selected by random draw, two students will be sitting on the Selection Committee along with AFSA President, Lynn Wu, and AFSA Chairman, Anna Liang. Two professors, to be named later, will also be sitting on the Selection Committee.

Along with the prize to be named later, students will be honoured with their award at the Fall SAF Awards Night, and will have their name engraved on the award that sits in the SAF/CMA Lounge.

Adopt a Co-op!
For all SAF people going on co-op in the winter, and for those who would like to share their previous work term experiences, this one’s for you!
Adopt-a-coop is a mentorship program where people will be paired with mentors in their desired areas of practice (eg. audit, tax, finance). These mentors will be able to give you advice in order to help you during the coop process, and prepare you for the workplace.

The matches will be revealed at a launch event at 5-7 PM on September 24th in SAF lounge. There will also be a ton of food!

Come to Summer Directions on Tuesday, February 3rd to learn about the different organizations, such as AIESEC and S.O.S, and also the upper years' own experiences from the break. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to ask your questions to the panel! Afterwards, join our mix and mingle session where you will be able to meet and talk to more upper years and representatives from the organizations!

Break into Investment Banking Workshop
Interested in Investment Banking? Don’t know how to do a cover letter, resume, or prepare for an interview? Garvin Blair, former Managing Director of M&A at National Bank Financial and current Professor at the School of Accounting and Finance, will be presenting about his experiences within investment banking and how students can break into the industry. During this presentation, Garvin will be giving an overview of investment banking, telling his career story, and sharing specific tips for students to break into investment banking.
