Diya Tripuraneni
Candidate for VP Internal Events for 2025/2026 General Election
One main concern for SAF students would be the extremely competitive nature. Although it can enhance performance and energy, it can often lead to a stressful and toxic work environment. For example, not wanting to collaborate with others, hesitating to ask for help, and fixating solely on grades. To approach this issue, I would host SAF competitions with low stakes. By focusing on non-academic topics and creating a fun and light-hearted environment, students are more likely to collaborate and step outside their comfort zone. Events like trivia nights or sports tournaments would allow students to compete with each other in a collaborative and stress-free environment. Additionally, many students hesitate to attend events due to financial burdens. To incentivize attendance and engagement, I would offer gift card prizes so students can participate without added financial stress. This would encourage involvement while ensuring inclusivity, regardless of one’s financial situation.
I am driven to become the VP of Internal Events as I have a genuine passion for event planning, leadership, and inclusivity. Over the last three years, I have organized 15+ community events that raised nearly $7,000 and impacted 1,000+ students. As Deputy VP of Internal Events, I led weekly meetings, delegated tasks, and oversaw recruitment, while managing termly budgets. Collaborating with a team of 16 associates has taught me to lead with both empathy and assertiveness. I can effectively mentor future AFSA members to take initiative, coordinate logistics, and manage resources. The energy and excitement that come from SAF events motivate me to create meaningful experiences that align with students’ interests. These experiences have deepened my passion for leadership and event planning, which I plan to further develop in my future financial career. As VP of Internal Events, I will foster inclusivity and engagement in SAF through creative and memorable events.
My prior project management experience has taught me to actively listen, balance structure with flexibility, and build a team that feels connected and valued. My goal is to host engaging events that all SAF students can enjoy to relieve academic stress. I am dedicated to setting a new standard in any role I pursue, as I strive for creativity, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact. I am not afraid to take initiative to boost morale, even if it does mean singing FEIN in front of a crowd or performing a choreographed dance to Watch Me Whip. From confidently hosting events and speaking in front of large groups, I can successfully interact with an audience, speak up in meetings, and network with other clubs, students, and businesses. I truly value other people's feedback, allowing me to adapt and improve my leadership style. I hope to bring new ideas to SAF that create a lasting impact on the community, fostering a positive environment for all students. As VP, I will listen to your voices and take action to host an unforgettable year of events!
