Hanna Leung

Candidate for VP Internal Services for 2025/2026 General Election

One of the main concerns for SAF students right now is balancing academic pressure with career development and extracurricular involvement. Many students feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with recruiting timelines, course demands, and personal well-being. Another challenge is accessing meaningful mentorship and feeling connected to the broader SAF community. To address this, I’d focus on creating more streamlined, accessible resources—like centralized career prep timelines, peer-led Q&A panels, and skill-building workshops that align with course content. I’d also advocate for more opportunities to connect students across years through events, mentorship pairings, and collaborative initiatives. By building a stronger support network, we can help students feel more confident, connected, and prepared.

I’m running for this position because I’ve already been closely involved in the role—I was trained as the Deputy VP for Internal Services this year and have taken on many responsibilities typically handled by the Deputy VP. From supporting event execution to managing internal communications and logistics, I’ve gained a clear understanding of what the role requires and how it can make a real impact. What motivates me most is the opportunity to make AFSA more transparent and approachable. I’ve heard many student concerns about not fully understanding what AFSA does or how to get involved, and I want to bridge that gap. By improving communication, streamlining processes, and advocating for student feedback, I hope to build a more connected, inclusive SAF community.

Why should students vote for me?

I’m running because I genuinely want to improve the SAF student experience—and I have the experience, vision, and motivation to follow through.

I’ve already been doing the work.

This year, I was trained as the Deputy VP for Internal Services and have been actively performing the role—handling logistics, communication, and supporting internal operations. I understand the systems, the team, and what needs to change.

I want to make AFSA more transparent and accountable.

I know many students feel disconnected from AFSA or unsure of how decisions are made. I want to change that by pushing for more visibility into AFSA’s operations—whether that’s through clearer communication, published updates, or open Q&A opportunities.

I’m here to listen, not just lead.

I believe every student should feel like their voice matters. I’ll work to ensure feedback is actually acknowledged and implemented—whether it’s about events, resources, or how AFSA can better help you.

I’m committed to clarity, connection, and community.

From streamlining how students get involved to making AFSA feel more approachable, my goal is to build a stronger bridge between the student body and the services meant to support them.

I’m not just here to hold a title—I’m here to make things work better for all of us. Vote for someone who understands the role, cares about your experience, and is ready to take action. Feel free to connect wit me on instagram @_.hannaleung. Vote Hanna!
