Maria Li
Position you are running for: AFEF Board of Directors
How do you feel AFEF can benefit from you on the BoD?
As as member of the AFSA Board of Directors for the 2022/23 year, I’ve had the opportunity to oversee AFSA events, budgets, and provide support to the executive team. Helping to communicate and organize AFSA’s events as the previous VP of Marketing, has given me insight into how beneficial and appreciated each event, whether academic or social, is to School of Accounting and Finance students. I hope to bring my knowledge and experience to the AFEF BoD, so that all SAF students can continue to benefit from what various SAF clubs have to offer with the support of the endowment fund.
What current or future initiatives would you prioritize AFEF funding for?
Now that we are back to a fully in-person learning environment, I am aware that students within SAF are looking for more ways to engage with the community. As such, I would prioritize funding for educational initiatives, such as skills workshops and conferences, that can help students build the skills they need to be successful in class, as well as in their future work terms and professional careers. I believe that funding in-person events will also allow students the opportunity to connect with each other and build their network.

Hi, I’m Maria and I’m running to be a member of the AFEF Board of Directors! Having served as a member of the AFSA Board of Directors, I’m very familiar with the budgeting and resources that are required to run a successful SAF event. As a member of the AFEF BoD, my goal would be to provide students with more opportunities to learn outside of the classroom and have fun, by prioritizing funding to various professional development workshops, conferences and competitions.
