Arnav Bhambra
Position you are running for: VICE PRESIDENT Internal Services
What do you believe are the main concerns for students in SAF right now? How would you like to approach fixing them?
I believe that the main concern for students in SAF right now is the lack of involvement in professional and educational development events. First-year students coming out of high school are more interested in attending non-educational events (3v3 basketball, movie-night, semi-formal, etc.) rather than educational and professional development events (tax clinic, e-mentorship, mock one-on-one interviews, etc.). After completing my first-year at University of Waterloo, I believe that each SAF student deserves the opportunity to improve their educational and professional personalities through AFSA’s Internal Services events. This will happen by creating creative and more engaging educational events and workshops for SAF students that are eager to build their network so that they can develop key skills through networking and professional development events.
Why are you running for this position? (experience, background & motivation)
The internal services committee has allowed me to build many connections whether it was during the various events or while planning the logistics. After applying to AFSA, I was going in with the mindset of helping other SAF students and to build my extracurriculars. But with the IS committee, they’ve allowed me to grow as a leader and build on many soft skills like event-planning skills which helped me transition into university smoothly after having high school online for almost 2 years. They then elected me as the Deputy Vice President and I was able to successfully plan and run AFSA’s annual Tax Clinic after 4 months of planning. My journey with AFSA and the Internal Services committee helped me feel more connected with other SAF students which is why I will be running for Vice President of Internal Services. I would love to give the new incoming first-year students the same opportunities and experiences that were given to me and you can help me achieve this goal by voting for me.

Hi guys, my name is Arnav Bhambra. Last year, I was elected as the Deputy Vice-President of Internal Services and this upcoming year I plan on running for Vice-President of Internal Services. If I’m elected as Vice President, SAF students will see new professional development events, workshops, and networking sessions in a more creative and engaging fashion. After my first year of university I believe that SAF students deserve to have the same opportunities and experiences that I was able to have and offer even more opportunities through the new possible events that I have in mind for the 2023-2024 school year. Vote for me and I will give the students what is best for them and I will offer my 100% effort in giving the students the opportunities they deserve.
