Position you are running for: VICE PRESIDENT Admin & KM

What do you believe are the main concerns for students in SAF right now? How would you like to approach fixing them?

A concern in SAF relating to Admin & KM is a lack of feedback between the students and AFSA. Admin & KM is one of the main committees responsible for solving this, through the oversight of the survey. Although these surveys do provide some feedback, it’s voluntary and a lot of students don’t have much to say. Usually the same results about wanting free food and more in-person events are collected every term. In order to solve this, I would make the surveys more specific to events. For example, surveys would be conducted after events like de-stress and semi, with more specific questions. In order to allow students a space to still provide general feedback, a running form would be available instead. Admin & KM would be responsible for monitoring this form and solving any issues or bringing it to the relevant party. This form would also make it easier for AFSA to quickly be aware of any problems, like a broken door handle in the lounge.

Why are you running for this position? (experience, background & motivation)

I’ve always loved being involved. Throughout high school I participated in a variety of different clubs, including my school’s student council where I held multiple different leadership positions, including Prime-Minister. I want to be able to continue being involved in clubs responsible for building a strong community and giving opportunities for students to bond. My prior experience has given me a lot of the skills required for being the VP of Admin & KM. I’m organized, outgoing, and most importantly, I check my email almost religiously. I also gained valuable leadership experience. The Admin & KM committee sticks out to me in particular because they manage key information for each committee such as room bookings. If I’m involved with an organization I want to be a part of everything within it, not just one niche like marketing. I also know that I can fulfill this role well since I had the opportunity to act as Deputy VP last term.

I have the most relevant experience to be VP of Admin & KM. As Deputy VP last term, I already have a solid understanding of the responsibilities of a VP. I have also been participating in clubs way before university, and even before high school. I love helping organize events to make students happy, so I want to keep doing so for as long as I can. In addition to having relevant experience, I’m a strong candidate because I’m easy to communicate with. If voted in as VP I will make sure to be accessible to SAF and will act to solve problems as soon as I know about them.
